Prospective Students
MSFS trains the next generation of leaders in international affairs. It is the first professional master’s degree program of its kind and the flagship program in the School of Foreign Service. The two-year, full-time program blends theory and practice in history, politics, and economics to prepare students for careers in diplomacy, development, security, business, and international governance in a changing world.
The goal of the MSFS program is to prepare creative and effective leaders to make the world safer, more equitable, more prosperous, and more peaceful. It instills a commitment to service and an appreciation for the ethical dimension of national and global affairs. Students develop their knowledge in substantive areas of international relations while sharpening skills such as critical thinking and writing, effective speaking, and quantitative methods of analysis.
