Veronica Pacheco
Veronica Pacheco is a graduate candidate in the Master of Science in Foreign Service (MSFS) program at Georgetown University, pursuing a concentration in International Development and a Certificate in Refugees, Migration, and Humanitarian Emergencies. Veronica aspires to serve as a Foreign Service Officer in Latin America and Europe.
Veronica, an Ecuadorian-American, graduated with Honors in International Criminal Justice and Political Science from the City University of New York John Jay College. As an undergraduate, she studied abroad in Australia and Italy and was involved in student government and immigrant advocacy organizations. Veronica developed resources for DACA and undocumented students on campus, and upon graduation, worked as a Spanish interpreter for refugee and asylum seekers at the US Citizenship and Immigration Services Asylum Office. Furthermore, her interest in international relations developed through participating in Model United Nations, the U.S. Department of State Charles B. Rangel Summer Enrichment Program, and internship with the Bureau of Democracy, Human Rights, and Labor Affairs (DRL/NEA) Office. Veronica is an alumna of the Critical Language Scholarship, in Busan, South Korea, where she later served as an English Teacher. While living in South Korea, Veronica published an article on the human trafficking of North Koreans, which she presented before the United Nations Congress on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice. As a Charles B. Rangel International Affairs Fellow, Veronica worked at the House of Representatives Foreign Affairs Committee on Western Hemisphere Affairs. Her language skills are Spanish and Korean.
