Valentina Diaz
Valentina holds B.A. degrees in International Studies and Spanish from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University (Virginia Tech). She additionally obtained a Minor in Leadership and Social Change studying abroad in Switzerland and Rwanda focusing on sustainable social change and marketing. Prior to joining MSFS, Valentina served as a Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) Americas Program intern, conducting research on regional issues in Latin America and the Caribbean. Additionally, she interned for the Training and Electoral Operations Program at the International Foundation for Electoral Systems (IFES), conducting research on their training standards and methodologies. In 2021, she conducted field research for Fondazione Marcegaglia Onlus in Rilima, Rwanda. Valentina’s team assessed a program that empowers widows, single mothers, and families from low-income communities to enable entrepreneurship and self-sufficiency. They compiled their research into an impact report to improve gender equity initiatives. She also served as a study abroad program advisor, meeting with local leaders in primary schools across rural Rwanda to create partnerships and implement sustainable childhood development projects. Lastly, Valentina supervised and led Virginia Tech students at early childhood development centers in Ruli, Rwanda. Valentina has additionally volunteered in Peru as an English language instructor at primary schools.
