Mallika Iyer
Mallika Iyer is an Indian American activist and graduate student at Georgetown University Walsh School of Foreign Service. She is the former Director of Asia and the Pacific and Europe Programs and Humanitarian Action at the Global Network of Women Peacebuilders. She oversaw Women, Peace, and Security programs designed to implement United Nations Security Council Resolutions 1325 and 2250 and the Convention on the Elimination of all forms of Discrimination Against Women in conflict-affected communities in South and Southeast Asia, Eastern Europe, and the South Caucasus. As a part of her advocacy, Mallika coordinated the Beijing+25 Women, Peace, and Security (WPS) – Youth, Peace, and Security (YPS) Action Coalition, consisting of over 100 women’s rights organizations from across the world. Advocacy led by this coalition resulted in the establishment of the Generation Equality Women, Peace, and Security and Humanitarian Action Compact, a multi-stakeholder platform for the acceleration of the effective implementation of WPS and humanitarian frameworks. Mallika graduated from the London School of Economics with a BSc in International Relations in 2017. Prior to joining GNWP, Mallika was a business analyst for Cognizant Technology Solutions, providing advisory services to clients to guide them through the optimization and digitization of product delivery.
"I chose MSFS because I believe that this program will help me better understand how to empower women through international frameworks and build sustainable peace in partnership with key stakeholders. This program will help me consolidate the practical knowledge I have amassed working in women’s rights with disciplines of international relations, history, and economics."
