Lee Block
Lee is interested in elite relations, bureaucratic politics, corruption, authoritarianism, and violence, especially in the former Soviet Union. Before attending the SFS, Lee served as a geopolitical risk consultant at APCO Worldwide. He advised multinational companies on risk mitigation amid geopolitical disruptions, such as the COVID-19 pandemic, the Russia-Ukraine War, and the Red Sea crisis. He served as Project Manager and lead geopolitical analyst for APCO’s largest client, a Fortune 100-listed logistics company that moves 10% of global GDP. He was commended for his executive writing, open-source research, and analyses at the intersection of national politics, geopolitics, and commerce in Eurasia, Latin America, the Middle East, East Africa, and the Indo-Pacific. In 2020, Lee graduated from American University with a BA in International Relations and Russian Language. He lived in Saint Petersburg, Russia for eight months and has traveled throughout the former Soviet Union. Lee speaks English and Russian. In his spare time, he enjoys photography, science fiction, playing banjo, and learning about dinosaurs.
