Kamal Aubakirov
Kamal Aubakirov is a graduate candidate in the Master of Science in Foreign Service (MSFS) program at Georgetown University, concentrating on Science, Technology, and International Affairs. Originally from Almaty, Kazakhstan, he holds a bachelor’s degree in economics from Kenyon College.
Kamal brings professional experience in energy, critical minerals, and development through roles at KTMC Mining Group, Ernst & Young, and the United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs. At Georgetown, he serves as President of the SFS Energy Club, where he has organized events focused on energy diplomacy and nuclear policy.
In addition to his professional pursuits, Kamal co-founded 360 Mentors, an educational nonprofit that has supported over 3,500 high school students in Kazakhstan with scholarships, mentorship, and access to educational and civic opportunities. The organization has received support from the U.S. Department of State.
Kamal’s career interests center on multilateral energy security, international trade, and development. He also envisions contributing to Kazakhstan’s sustainable development through a future role in public service, leveraging his expertise in energy, trade, and international relations.
