Ignacio Albe
Ignacio is an international student from Argentina currently pursuing an MSFS degree with a concentration in Science, Technology, and International Affairs. His main area of interest is the intersection of inter-American integration, sustainable development, energy, and democratic governance. A firm believer in the region’s promise, he worked in institutions such as the Inter-American Dialogue and the Inter-American Development Bank. He also works at the Georgetown Americas Institute where he helps organize events with former and current heads of state, policymakers, and regional experts. Before joining SFS Ignacio studied at the Yenching Academy of Peking University (PKU) in Beijing, China, where he received his Master’s of Law in China Studies. During his time at PKU Ignacio researched the US-China relationship and its implications for Latin America. There he observed how US policy in recent years has erratically tried to push back what it perceives to be the expansion of Chinese influence. In Argentina, Ignacio worked for two years as his mayor’s assistant in the metropolitan area of Buenos Aires, where he gained valuable experience in policymaking, strategy, and campaigning. It was there that he learned that the solutions for the most vexing of global challenges are often rooted in local realities.
"I chose MSFS because of its unassailable track record in preparing successive generations of people deeply committed to the future of our planet. In a world riddled by age-defining challenges we need professionals in the public and private sectors that understand that only together will the world push through these times of uncertainty. That is why I chose MSFS, because I believe that its core message of service resonates deeply with this vision. I also believe that it is one of the programs that is best suited for my regional and thematic interests, and Georgetown’s bountiful resources for issues related to sustainability and the Americas are proof of that."
