Daniel Castro Bonilla
Daniel Castro Bonilla is a candidate in the Master of Science in Foreign Service (MSFS) program at Georgetown University, pursuing the Global Politics and Security concentration.
A Honduran-American immigrant from Miami, Florida, Daniel graduated from Bowdoin College with a degree in Asian Studies and a passion for public service. He was awarded a U.S. Department of State Critical Language Scholarship to study in China, where he also conducted research with the Middlebury program on the country’s ethnic minorities. Following graduation, he spent four years with the Fulbright Program in Taiwan, experiencing the impact of people-to-people diplomacy as he collaborated with schools across the country to promote mutual understanding.
Daniel has also served at various levels of government in the US. He spent two years as a research analyst with the Miami-Dade County commissioners, helping inform their decision-making process. Most recently, he served as a legislative fellow in the US House of Representatives, working on immigration policy and trade preferences in the Caribbean. As a recipient of the Department of State's Charles B. Rangel Fellowship, he will join the Diplomatic Corps as a Foreign Service Officer upon graduation. His languages include Spanish, Mandarin, and conversational German.
