Anna Downs
Anna was fortunate enough to grow up throughout the U.S., Europe, and Asia. She holds a B.A. in Asian Studies and Chinese from Brigham Young University, where she spent a semester at Nanjing University in China. She received a U.S. Department of State Critical Language Scholarship in 2013 to study Chinese at Sichuan University in Chengdu, China.
After graduating, she worked for four years as a project manager, manufacturing consultant, and risk analyst for U.S. businesses operating in Asia in the fashion, technology, medical, and energy sectors. She is particularly interested in facilitating international trade and bridging cultural and legal gaps between the U.S. and China. She hopes to pursue a career in public service that focuses on building trust and diplomacy for the U.S. internationally, particularly with China.
"I am attending Master of Science in Foreign Service (MSFS) to learn from the university’s world-class professors and practitioners, but more importantly, to learn from the diverse experiences of my cohort. The location of the program in D.C. also provides ideal opportunities for internships and excellent on-campus speakers."
