Amna Farooqi
Amna Farooqi is a community organizer passionate about building progressive political power. Prior to MSFS, she worked for 9to5 Georgia, an economic and racial justice organization for women, in Albany, GA. She worked with rural communities across Southwest Georgia on housing, utilities, voter suppression, and other local issues, in addition to training candidates to run for office. As an undergraduate student she was the first Muslim president of J Street U, the national student arm of J Street, and helped develop national and regional anti-occupation campaigns on settlement expansion in Israel/Palestine. She has spent time on the ground in Israel/Palestine with various organizations studying, organizing educational trips and direct actions, and building relationships with local activists. She has also completed internships at The White House and West Wing Writers, and worked on a variety of local and state electoral campaigns. After MSFS, she hopes to develop progressive foreign policy, with an eye on strengthening democracy at home. Originally from the D.C. area, Farooqi is a proud Terp, an avid consumer of Netflix, and enjoys reading romance novels.
