Alyssa Macaluso
Alyssa Macaluso is a graduate candidate in the Master of Science in Foreign Service (MSFS) program at Georgetown University. She is concentrating in Science, Technology and International Affairs (STIA) with a focus on environmental and human rights policy as it intersects with information and communication technology (ICT) and other technological developments in multilateral settings.
Before starting the MSFS program, Alyssa worked with both the United States Government and international NGOs on joint initiatives with the United Nations. Most recently, she held positions with the United Nations Global Compact and the Sustainable Development Solutions Network (SDSN), where she worked on human rights policy and private sector engagement in the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and sustainable development initiatives, respectively. Alyssa also served at the Department of State’s U.S. Mission to the United Nations during the United Nations General Assembly season, first in the Press and Public Affairs Office and later in the Economic and Social Office, helping shape resolutions and U.S. foreign policy on a variety of human rights and sustainability-related issue areas.
Outside of the policy sphere, she loves to read about the evolution of journalism and queer theory and is constantly in search of her new favorite magical realism novel. Alyssa holds a B.A. in American Studies and Peace and Justice Studies from Fordham University, and she grew up in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
