Alexa Scheer
Alexa Scheer is a second-year Master of Science in Foreign Service (MSFS) candidate at Georgetown University, concentrating in Global Politics and Security. She is from Topeka, Kansas, where she graduated summa cum laude from Kansas State University with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science with an emphasis in Global Politics and Security, a secondary major in International Studies, and a minor in French. Alexa is the inaugural recipient of the Allison Benson Memorial Scholarship, awarding her the opportunity to study international relations while attending university in France. She has been inducted as a member of Phi Beta Kappa and speaks French at an advanced level of proficiency. While at Georgetown, Alexa serves as a MSFS senator in Graduate Student Government. Alexa’s research and professional publications focus on anti-corruption, illicit finance, and how to implement better standards of good governance. Outside of her academic pursuits, Alexa has interned for the U.S. Department of State in the Bureau of International Organizational affairs, Office of Peacekeeping Operations (IO/PKO), and currently helps collaborate with international government partners and private financial institutions to address illicit finance vulnerabilities and support compliance while interning at the Institute for Financial Integrity. After graduation, she hopes to use her passion for geopolitical analysis and economic statecraft to contribute to U.S. foreign policy and international security.
