Silvia Rodriguez
Silvia is a second-year student in the Master of Science in Foreign Service (MSFS) program concentrating in International Development. Before attending Georgetown, Silvia worked in various international development-related positions. While living in her home city of Bogotá, Colombia, Silvia worked for the British Embassy as a Trade Development Officer. There, she focused on identifying and fostering business partnership opportunities between British and Colombian companies–a relatively recent development goal that arose as a result of the peace process to end the Colombian conflict. More recently, Silvia served as an intern at External Relations and International Affairs Department of the Organization of American State (OAS). Her main project at the OAS was to work with member states and strategic partners to identify and coordinate sources of funding for integral development, human rights, and security projects.
Silvia is passionate about international development. She cites her experience growing up in a country that suffered from a half-century-long civil war as her motivation to pursue a career in development. She hopes to serve at the World Bank after completing her master’s degree.
Silvia holds a Bachelor of Arts in International Relations from Rosario University, from which she graduated with honors.
"I chose to attend the MSFS program because I believe that the education that Georgetown provides will best prepare me for a career in international development.”
