James Rogers
Prior to MSFS, James worked in financial regulation at the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA) where he conducted investigations into potential stock fraud. He is a returned Peace Corps volunteer, having served as an education volunteer in Mozambique from 2013 to 2015. He graduated from the University of Maryland with degrees in Government and Politics, and Economics, and speaks Portuguese.
James is interested in issues pertaining to democratization, transitional governance, natural resource extraction, and post-conflict reconstruction. Given his experience living and traveling in sub-Saharan Africa as a Peace Corps volunteer, and his time studying in Morocco and Israel as an undergraduate, James focuses regionally on Africa and the Middle East. After completing his MSFS degree, James hopes to enter the Foreign Service.
"The MSFS program is led by some of the most knowledgeable experts and practitioners in their fields. The small program size ensures that I have access to these accomplished professionals, while also getting to know my brilliant and accomplished classmates. Due to its D.C. location, guest speakers, unparalleled internship opportunities, MSFS was best able to prepare me for a career once I graduate.”
