Welcome to Georgetown!
We are excited to welcome everyone to Georgetown’s campus soon! Given the unique circumstances of the pandemic, we will be holding orientation events for both first-year and continuing MSFS students throughout the beginning of the year.
International Student Immigration Session | Monday, August 16
9:00 a.m. EDT live online virtually through Canvas. Required for all incoming international MSFS students. Learn more here.
Graduate School of Foreign Service (GSFS) Orientation | Wednesday, August 18
Required for all new students. 12:00-6:30 p.m. The welcome sessions will be held in Reiss 103 and the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion sessions will be held in the Lohrfink Auditorium inside the Hariri Building| RSVP| View the schedule.
MSFS New Student Orientation | Thursday, August 19
9:00 a.m-2:00 p.m. mandatory sessions, 2:00-4:30 p.m. in Copley Formal Lounge and ICC classrooms. All incoming students should have received a link to RSVP to their Georgetown email address. Lunch is provided. View the schedule.
MSFS Welcome Back Reception | Thursday, August 19
New students, continuing students, and the MSFS Leadership team are invited to a reception to meet one another from 5:00-6:30 p.m. in Red Square (tents outside of the ICC building). Light refreshments will be served.
Graduate Student Induction and Information Sessions | Tuesday, August 24
9:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m. Strongly recommended for all incoming MSFS students. Learn more here.
GSFS International Student Orientation | Tuesday, August 24
For new and returning international students. Happening virtually and in-person for anyone who is delayed arriving to campus. RSVP here.
First Day of Classes | Wednesday, August 25th

Second Year Re-Orientation | Friday, August 27th
Held in the Executive Conference Room (ECR) on the ICC 7th floor inside the MSFS suite from 12:30 p.m.-1:45 p.m. RSVP here.
MSFS Welcome Boat Cruise | Saturday, August 28th
1:30pm or 3:30pm meet at Washington Harbor, dock near Fiola Mare Restaurant & Nick’s Riverside Grill. Contact the MSFS student reps at msfsreps@gmail.com for more information.
