Nikita Makarenko
Nikita is a first-year MSFS student, concentrating in International Development. Originally from Dnipro, Ukraine, Nikita possesses comprehensive international experience as he has traveled and studied in the UK, Canada, China, and the US. He is a recipient of the Gracias Family Foundation Scholarship. Nikita has spent a year working for a global consulting company Kroll, where he focused on international compliance, risk, and diligence research. Nikita has also interned at a Beijing, China-based law firm and a Houston, Texas-based manufacturing multinational company. He is interested in the Arctic region and its implications for the future of world trade as well as international economics and diplomacy, global logistics, energy, and economic development. At Georgetown, Nikita hopes to acquire the necessary quantitative analysis and economic forecasting skills. Courses that provide practical tools for evaluating developmental projects are of particular interest to him. In addition, he plans to further engage with complex international problems, such as global power competition, climate change, poverty, and conflict resolution. In his free time, Nikita enjoys playing soccer, skiing, reading, and meeting with friends.
