Tyler Gobble
Tyler is in the Master of Science in Foreign Service (MSFS) class of 2021 and concentrating in Global Politics and Security. His primary academic and professional interests include soft power diplomacy, methods of addressing non-state actors, addressing authoritarianism, and intersections between state security and fragility.
Before coming to Georgetown, Tyler earned his Bachelor of Science in Aeronautical Management from Arizona State University. He is also a graduate of Barrett, the Honors College, where he studied and wrote a thesis on the development of international minority rights. Tyler has also worked in commercial and corporate aviation in a variety of capacities; he is a licensed pilot and aircraft dispatcher.
He is interested in learning about cultures, regional customs and cuisine as much as he is interested in learning languages. Tyler is currently studying Turkish, and he hopes to explore more critical languages and regions during his time in MSFS.
Tyler joined the MSFS program with the goal of preparing himself for a career in public service with an international focus. Tyler hopes to apply the full breadth of his knowledge, skills, and experience to a career with or in support of the US government.
"I chose MSFS because I knew this program would shape me into what I want to be and direct me toward where I need to be."
