Marzia Amiri
Marzia Amiri was born and raised in Afghanistan. She completed high school in Kabul in
December 2018, before moving to Bangladesh for her undergraduate studies. In May 2024, she
graduated from the Asian University for Women (AUW) in Bangladesh, earning a BA in Politics,
Philosophy, and Economics (PPE), with a minor in Development Studies. Currently, she is an
MSFS student at Georgetown University, with a concentration in International Development.
Her passion lies in areas such as development studies, international migration, forced
displacement, refugee rights, and the international rise to refugees. As an undergrad Marzia
interned with the Institute on Statelessness and Inclusion and also with the Rohingya Human
Rights Initiative, where she worked to raise awareness about human rights violations faced by
the Rohingya community and broader educational challenges and human rights violations faced
by refugees in host countries. In 2023 she completed a summer exchange program at the
University of Tokyo on International Migration, Immigration and Refugees that helped her to
deepen her understanding of the global challenges faced by all who migrate to access basic
safety and freedom.
Marzia aspires to work in development sectors to promote and protect the rights of refugees,
immigrants and migrants, with a particular emphasis on educational access.
