Title: Meet your 2024-2025 MSFS Reps!

Alex Belooussov (MSFS ’25)

Alex is a second-year MSFS student pursuing a concentration in Global Politics & Security. His primary research interests are in transnational security, nuclear proliferation, strategic foreign policymaking, and the intersection of security cooperation and diplomacy. Prior to joining the Walsh School of Foreign Service, Alex worked for a global consulting firm with projects in the U.S., Europe, and Asia, where he focused on dispute resolution, risk mitigation and project management for public and private clients. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Architecture from the University of Westminster, London. Alex has lived in the U.K., France, Japan, and the U.S.

Deontae Brown (MSFS ’26)

Deontae is a first-year Rep pursuing a concentration in Global Politics & Security with interests in intercultural relations and conflict resolution. Originally from Dayton, Ohio, he graduated Summa Cum Laude with bachelor’s degrees in anthropology and political science at Ohio University in 2024. As an undergraduate, he worked as a research assistant and participated in archaeological excavations for Ohio University. He also interned with Representative Scott Peters as part of his reelection campaign in 2020 and with the nonprofit organization Rank the Vote as an outreach coordinator in 2023. In his spare time, he is either traveling, running, or being an avid Marvel fan despite its downfall after Avengers Endgame. As a MSFS Rep, he hopes to help create an engaging and fun community amongst the cohort that persists even after graduation.

Clari Guglielmelli (MSFS ’25)

Clari is a second-year MSFS student concentrating in Science, Technology & International Affairs (STIA). She enjoys working on issues related to cybersecurity and artificial intelligence. Before coming to Georgetown, Clari studied political science and history at California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo. In her free time, Clari enjoys running, watching and playing soccer, and cooking. She is excited to continue on Reps for her second year, to plan fun events and foster community within the cohort.

Rachel Kern (MSFS ’26)

Rachel is a first-year MSFS candidate concentrating in International Development and pursuing a certificate in African Studies. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in International Studies from Indiana University, where she also minored in French, African Languages and Cultures, and Religious Studies. Before joining MSFS, Rachel spent two years at the International Republican Institute (IRI), where she worked on democracy, human rights, and governance programs across sub-Saharan Africa. Her academic interests include countering violent extremism, empowering women and youth politically and economically, and enhancing public financial accountability in West Africa. Outside of her studies, Rachel actively serves at her local church, enjoys spending time with friends and family, and experiments with fun baking recipes. As a representative, Rachel hopes to foster a vibrant community within the MSFS program by engaging with students, faculty, and alumni.

Yoshihiro Komori (MSFS ’26)

Yoshihiro is a first-year MSFS candidate with a concentration in International Development. He earned his Bachelor of Arts in Asia Pacific Affairs from Australian National University and Bachelor of Arts in Global Liberal Arts from Ritsumeikan University in 2024. Before coming to MSFS, Yoshihiro interned with the Australian Institute of International Affairs. His areas of interest include human rights and humanitarian issues, conflict resolution, politics of China and Japan, and Northeast Asian regional dynamics. In his free time, he likes reading, traveling, and powerlifting.

Lily Nguyen (MSFS ’26)

Originally from Wichita, Kansas, Lily first began her journey in intercultural exchanges through the Vietnamese American immigrant community of the Midwest. After graduating from the University of Kansas with degrees in Global and International Affairs and East Asian Languages and Cultures, she moved to Kamiamakusa, Kumamoto, Japan through the Japan Exchange Teaching (JET) Program, where she taught English to five elementary schools and one junior high school on a small subtropical island and was elected as the Vice Chair of the National Association for Japan Exchange Teaching. She has previously interned with the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs and currently works as a Humanitarian and Climate Crisis Intern with USAID’s Bureau for Humanitarian Affairs. Concentrating in STIA, her interests include the clean energy transition and supporting victims of forced climate migration. In her free time, she enjoys playing musical instruments, video games, or hiking outside in good weather.

Angelo Paule (MSFS ’25)

Angelo is a second-year MSFS student in the Science, Technology & International Affairs (STIA) concentration. He spent nearly two years as a locally employed consular staff member of the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Guam. His other experiences encompass Indo-Pacific focused reporting and analysis, managing the output of an international tech think tank alliance, and serving as an Economic Section Fellow focused on tech policy in U.S. Embassy New Delhi. In his undergraduate years, he studied Political Science at the University of Guam, where he focused his coursework on studying the political systems and development of Asian and Pacific Island countries. Angelo joined MSFS Reps to become more involved among the MSFS program, including in leveraging our program’s reputation to open opportunities for MSFS students. When he’s not playing or watching tennis, he likes to walk around the DMV area.

Zach Slotkin (MSFS ’25)

Zach is a second-year MSFS student from Fort Lauderdale, Florida concentrating in Science, Technology & International Affairs (STIA), focusing on the intersection of energy, trade and geopolitics. Before starting grad school, he worked as a Peace Corps Volunteer in The Gambia and as a Public Affairs Specialist at the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. He graduated from George Washington University in 2019 with a B.A. in international affairs. Zach chose MSFS because of its strong academics and reputation, and as a Student Rep, he hopes to build more community across the two cohorts.

Muna Sultana (MSFS ’26)

Muna Sultana is concentrating in Global Politics and Security (GPS) and plans to earn a certificate in Diplomatic Studies and Arab Studies. She graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Government and International Studies with a minor in Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies at Franklin and Marshall College where she served as the Student Body President and is excited to serve the MSFS community! Over the last few years, she has gained valuable experience working with the U.S. Department of Interior, United States Agency for International Development (USAID), U.S. House of Representatives and the U.S. Department of State. Additionally, she is an alumnus of the David L. Boren Scholarship, Benjamin A. Gilman Scholarship, Critical Language Scholarship and the Obama-Chesky Voyager Scholarship where she learned invaluable skills that shaped her commitment to public service. As a first-generation college student, Muna is dedicated to supporting a community of inclusivity and equity at MSFS. Her goal as a first-year MSFS Rep is to ensure that every student in the MSFS program feels as if they belong and are empowered to be the best version of themselves, inside and outside of the classroom.

Eleni Zervos (MSFS ’25)

Eleni is a second year Master of Science in Foreign Service (MSFS) student concentrating in Global Politics and Security (GPS). She is originally from Arlington, Virginia. Eleni received an undergraduate degree in International Relations and Modern History from the University of St Andrews in 2021. Before studying at Georgetown University, she worked as a government consultant for Aptive Resources. Eleni chose became a Representative to be more involved in the MSFS community and organize events!
