Nicholas McCurrach
Nicholas McCurrach is a graduate student at Georgetown University pursuing a Master of Science in Foreign Service with a concentration in Global Politics and Security. His academic and professional journey is deeply intertwined with his commitment to international security, particularly in the face of challenges posed by a revisionist Russia and an assertive China.
Nicholas graduated cum laude as a Commonwealth Honors College Scholar with Greatest Distinction and as a member of Phi Beta Kappa from the University of Massachusetts Amherst, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science with a minor in Russian, Eurasian, and Polish Studies.
As a recipient of the Obama-Chesky Voyager Scholarship, Nicholas is dedicated to global public service. His work with Volunteers for Ukraine, where he serves as Chief Partnership Officer, was a defining experience in his career. During his time in Eastern Europe, Nicholas led efforts to coordinate humanitarian aid. This included an aid mission into Ukraine, working on the ground to deliver critical resources to those affected by the war. His role with VFU centered around building strategic partnerships with international NGOs to support Ukraine.
Nicholas's time in Ukraine solidified his understanding of the complexities and importance of global security and the human impact of authoritarianism. His experiences have driven his desire to influence U.S. policy, particularly in addressing the strategic challenges posed by Russia and China. At Georgetown, he is preparing for a career dedicated to safeguarding democratic values and contributing to a more stable and secure world order.
