Jessica Shiao
Jessica was born and raised in Buenos Aires City, Argentina, to a Taiwanese family. She attended both Argentine and Taiwanese institutions, where she formally learned Spanish and Mandarin. She holds a dual Bachelor’s degree (Licenciatura) in International Relations and Political Science from the University of Palermo (Argentina), and undergraduate degrees in Certified Translation (English and Spanish) and Law at the University of Buenos Aires (UBA). She is currently pursuing a Master of Business Administration at the University of Palermo.
Jessica serves as the Ambassador’s Secretary and Political Advisor at the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Argentina. Previously, she gained valuable experience at an Argentine law firm specialized in criminal, immigration, and business law. Moreover, she provided pro bono legal advice to women affected by gender-based violence at the UBA School of Law. In addition, during the COVID-19 pandemic, she taught Mandarin at a Taiwanese school in Argentina.
Jessica is an active volunteer at Tzu Chi Argentina, a Buddhist charity foundation. She is a native speaker of Spanish and Mandarin, and is proficient in English, with fair knowledge of French and Latin.
