Kamilla Ruppman
Kamilla is a graduate candidate in the Master of Foreign Service (MSFS) program at Georgetown University, pursuing a concentration in International Development.
Before Georgetown, Kamilla worked in various roles for the Minnesota Council of Churches, a refugee resettlement agency based in the Twin Cities. She started as an AmeriCorps volunteer, assisting caseworkers during the Afghan Evacuation, and after completing her term, she joined the agency full-time as a community connector. During this time, she worked on immigration with the Advocates for Human Rights and the MN DHS to ensure all Afghans in Minnesota would receive permanent status through asylum or SIV.
Afterward, Kamilla moved into a position as a housing specialist, where she worked on pre-arrival housing needs, including furnishing and preparing apartments for newcomers.
In addition to refugee resettlement, Kamilla volunteered with the Red Cross, coordinating local disaster aid in Minnesota, South Dakota, and North Dakota (MNDAK). She also deployed in 2022 as a Red Cross disaster relief worker to assist with the relief effort after Hurricane Ian hit Florida. Kamilla graduated in 2021 from the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities, with a B.A. in Psychology and minors in public health and global studies.
