Shekina Shindano
Shekina Shindano is a proud first-generation American with roots in the Democratic Republic of Congo and Zambia. She pursued her bachelor's degree at the University of Georgia, where her passion for international affairs and public service took shape. Her academic journey included conducting pivotal research on Black Women in National Security, shedding light on the unique perspectives and contributions of this underrepresented group.
As Shekina prepares to join the Master of Science in Foreign Service (MSFS) program at Georgetown, she is eager to concentrate on global politics and security. Her goal is to leverage this education to pursue a career in public service, contributing to crafting policies that promote international stability and cooperation.
Her professional experiences have been equally diverse and enriching. Shekina has had the privilege of interning at esteemed organizations such as Vital Voices Global Partnership, BRAC USA, the Truman Center for National Policy, The UPS Foundation, and the International Republican Institute. These roles have equipped her with a comprehensive understanding of international development, policy analysis, and strategic communications.
Shekina is currently an executive secretary intern at the Peace Corps Headquarters, where she supports high-level initiatives aimed at fostering global peace and development.
