Mia Douglas
Mia Douglas is an aspiring diplomat and international journalist for the Middle East region. She attained her Bachelor of Arts in Mass Communications with a minor in Political Science from Benedict College in Columbia, South Carolina. At the end of her matriculation, she was awarded Outstanding Senior for the School of Communications and for the entire graduating class of 2024. She was a 2023 White House HBCU Scholar and a finalist for the 2024 Thomas R. Pickering and Donald M. Payne fellowships.
Professionally, she has interned at the Department of State's Bureau of Global Public Affairs Foreign Press Center, where she produced social media content and data journalism projects for press briefings. During her time abroad, she interned at TheJournal.ie in Dublin, Ireland, covering issues ranging from the political crisis to refugee housing concerns. Through the Future Leaders in Public Service program, she interned for the Small Business Administration, Region Four. Most recently, she interned for the South Carolina State Senate under Senators Ronnie Sabb and Vernon Stephens.
Mia hopes to utilize the knowledge from the Master of Science in Foreign Service (MSFS) program to better understand geopolitics, refugee plights, and the role that ethics plays in foreign policy decision-making.
