Estelle Erwich
Estelle Erwich is a first year MSFS student planning to concentrate in International Development and pursue a certificate in Refugees and Humanitarian Emergencies. Estelle is a graduate of the University of Florida's Honors Program, where she majored in Political Science and International Studies with a concentration in the Middle East. While at UF, Estelle was the president of Gators for Refugee Medical Relief, a student-run, non-profit organization providing an array of services to refugees and migrants throughout Central Florida. She was also a research assistant on a project analyzing socio-political reactions to immigrants throughout Europe and conducted internal research for USAID's Bureau of Humanitarian Assistance. Estelle has spent the last year working as a staff assistant intern at the Wilson Center's Refugee and Forced Displacement Initiative, and has previously worked in communications at the Women's Foreign Policy Group and as a communications and advocacy intern at Equality Florida PAC.
Estelle grew up in Miami, Florida, and is motivated by her family background and involvement throughout her undergraduate studies to pursue a career in immigration policy and advocacy. She is passionate about working across sectors and disciplines to create solutions for displaced people globally, focusing on resettlement, integration, and combatting political xenophobia. She looks forward to pursuing this focus especially through coursework at the Institute for the Study of International Migration, while broadening her knowledge and proficiency in foreign policy through the MSFS program.
