Taiju Sasaki
Taiju Sasaki is a Japanese career diplomat with a professional background in both private and public sectors. Before joining Japan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA), Taiju was an Associate at the Boston Consulting Group (BCG) and then the Chief Researcher at Fourth Valley Concierge (FVC), a global human resources consultancy.
At BCG, Taiju acquired agility in business decision-making and operations. At FVC he promoted private-public collaboration through the work of its in-house think-tank. Since moving to MOFA, he has been involved in international trade-related affairs at MOFA. Notably, Taiju was responsible for the triennial Trade Policy Review for Japan at the WTO and wrote the statements by the delegation of Japan which encompassed important developments in Japan’s economic and trade policies. Taiju was also responsible for ministerial-level meetings such as G7 and G20 Trade and Investment Ministerial Meetings.
At Georgetown, Taiju is pursuing a master’s degree in foreign service, concentrating in Global Politics and Security. His current academic and policy interests include US grand strategy, security issues in the Indo-Pacific, and US-Japan alliance management. Taiju graduated from the London School of Economics (LSE) with a Bachelor’s in International Relations, earning a distinction in the LSE100, the flagship interdisciplinary course.
