Michael James Blaesing
Mike, a native of Virginia Beach, is a second year MSFS student in the Global Politics and Security concentration where he has mainly tailored his studies to focus on Eastern European geopolitics, political economy, security, intelligence issues, cyber policy, the Arctic, space policy, and nuclear policy. Mike also speaks Russian and Spanish. He is a veteran of the United States Marine Corps, having deployed to Iraq and Japan as an infantry assault Marine, reaching the rank of Sergeant. Since leaving the Marines and prior to accepting his current job Mike assisted in faculty research on corruption in sovereign wealth funds with Dr. Jodi Vittori. Since May of 2022, Mike has worked as the Desk Officer for Berlin, Copenhagen, and Reykjavik at the Defense Attaché Service, working to enhance military cooperation between the United States and NATO partner countries.
