Kavya Sankhavaram
Kavya is a third-year MSFS and MBA candidate concentrating in Global Politics and Security from Carmel, Indiana. She attended Purdue University, where she graduated with a B.S. in Biology. Prior to attending Georgetown, Kavya worked in Japan on the Japan Exchange and Teaching (JET) program as an English teacher for three years. Within her coursework at Georgetown, she has strived to develop expertise in Northeast Asia as well as the intersection of business, government, and national security. Kavya interned with the Mike and Maureen Mansfield Foundation, where she assisted with development of programs related to Japan, China, and South Korea. She also interned at the Japan Society, where she created tools to further the non-profit’s donation goals. She has held multiple positions at Georgetown, assisting in both business and language courses. She spent her most recent Summer (2022) studying Korean language at the Korean Language Institute at Yonsei University in Seoul, South Korea.
"I chose MSFS because it offered me the chance to build both my depth and breadth through coursework. I particularly looked for a program that would allow me time before specializing as I was pivoting to a new field.
