Jeenou Yi
Jeenou is a Master of Science in Foreign Service candidate from the Republic of Korea, concentrating on Global Politics and Security. His academic interests include the Korean peninsula, U.S and comparative foreign policy, Indo-Pacific security, North Korean human rights, and international security.
Jeenou received his B.A in Political Science from the University of Minnesota Twin Cities in 2022. Before joining the MSFS program, he worked as a legislative intern at the South Korean National Assembly, where he was responsible for assisting with bill proposals and writing daily reports of foreign media trends on the Korean Peninsula directly to the congressman. He also interned at the Database Center for North Korean Human Rights (NKDB), where he assisted in the direct examinations of North Korean defectors for identifying human rights violation cases and documenting the North Korean people’s voices for transitional justice in the future. He currently serves as a co-founder of the Young Leader Forum of the Korean Peninsula, the platform that consists of young professionals from both South and North Korea to share their experiences and perspectives on various issues in the Korean peninsula. He also serves as one of four founding members of the Committee on Young Generation at the Ahnmin Institute for Public Policy, one of the largest networks in Korea for renowned scholars on public policy. He hopes to pursue a career in the Korean public sector to contribute to the stable and prosperous Korean peninsula.
