Hifza Shaukat
Hifza Shaukat is a first year MSFS student, concentrating in Global Politics and Security with a certificate in Women, Peace, and Security. During her undergraduate studies at Columbia University, Hifza pursued a degree in Middle East, South Asian and African studies. She researched the impact of collective memory and trauma on Armenian genocide survivors and Japanese comfort women, and how reparations and government apologies can be used to bring justice to victims of violence. She is passionate about learning how to streamline education and security within South Asia and international conflict zones, using an economic and peace security framework. She hopes to support development initiatives within the Indian subcontinent so that women can attain financial independence while resisting oppressive practices. Upon the completion of her degree, Hifza hopes to work with multilateral agencies or in the private sector to advocate for the rights of women.
"I chose MSFS because of its hands-on approach and academic curriculum."
