Daniel Karp
Daniel is a second-year MSFS candidate concentrating in Global Politics and Security. At Georgetown, his coursework focuses on stabilization and reconstruction, with an emphasis on identity-based conflict. He is also interested in illicit financial flows and effective sanctions regimes.
Daniel currently interns with the U.S. Treasury’s Office of Terrorist Financing and Financial Crimes. He spent his summer (2022) at Thomson Reuters Special Services (TRSS), where he analyzed crude oil flows between Russia and India following the invasion of Ukraine. Before enrolling at GU, Daniel was the Operations Manager at an ed-tech startup in Sao Paulo, Brazil. He has also worked at a documentary film company, consulted for C4ADS, and interned at the Center for International Policy (CIP).
Daniel holds a Bachelor’s degree from Brandeis University in History, and International and Global Studies. In 2018, he studied abroad in Serbia and conducted independent research in Bosnia's Republika Srpska on Russian soft power influences. While Daniel considers Los Angeles his home, he spent significant portions of his youth in New Delhi, India, and Sao Paulo, Brazil.
"I chose MSFS because of its small class sizes, proximity to government institutions, interdisciplinary course requirements, and strong commitment to service.”
