Christopher Frederick
Christopher is pursuing a Master of Science in Foreign Service (MSFS) degree with a concentration in international development. Before graduate school, Christopher was a researcher for three years at the Center for Applied Linguistics, where he conducted evaluations of federal language programs and piloted a large-scale language assessment in Mexico.
During his studies at Georgetown, Christopher had the opportunity to serve as an intern with several international affairs organizations in Washington, DC. For example, his work at the State Department involved supporting humanitarian assistance programs in the Middle East and Asia. He later gained experience in monitoring and evaluation, data visualization, and infrastructure projects at a small export promotion agency. Most recently, he managed capacity-building and private sector engagement at a global NGO. Christopher is a 2021 Presidential Management Fellowship (PMF) finalist.
As an undergraduate at Stanford University, Christopher interned at Pearson Knowledge Technologies, where he helped develop an iPad-based language assessment tool. He received a Critical Language Scholarship from the U.S. State Department to study Mandarin Chinese, and spent one year as a Dr. C.J. Huang Fellow in rural China, where he created a Mandarin-language podcast series.
"I chose the MSFS program for its strong community of students and faculty, and the many opportunities to amplify our learning through internships and events in Washington, DC."
