Chloe Wawerek
Concentrating in STIA, Chloe decided to step away from her background in intelligence to focus on emerging technologies and its intersection with policy. Recognizing evolving issues related to technology, Chloe intends to facilitate discussions between policymakers and experts in cyber security to assist in codifying norms and forming prudent regulations.
Chloe worked the last five years as a soldier in military intelligence, successfully completing a combat deployment to Afghanistan and various advance level trainings. Through her experiences she encountered various technological applications to enhance or impede military operations, and she instantly became interested in future applications and consequences. She returned to school through a military program to gain her master’s degree and commission as an officer of the US military. Chloe is taking this opportunity to diversify her background and pursue her interest in emerging technology taking courses in Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning as well as courses to conceptualize cyber warfare. Recognizing that she is behind peers in terms of education she continues to expand her knowledge through programming courses, internships, and future classes in cyber security with the aim that upon graduation to return to the Army and work under Cyber Command. Through this Chloe hopes to gain more experience and knowledge to serve as conduit who understands what practitioners are saying on both sides to help formulate practical solutions to crises regarding sovereignty, warfare, and rights in the digital age.
"I chose this program because of the high caliber of students and faculty that encourage me to do more and be better in helping to shape the future."
