Luke Schroeder
Luke is a second-year MSFS graduate student, concentrating in Global Politics and Security. He is currently studying East Asian foreign policy. Prior to studying at Georgetown, he was an English teacher living near Tokyo, Japan for three-and-a-half years. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in History and Japanese from the University of Wisconsin–Madison. He speaks fluent Japanese.
During Spring 2019, Luke interned at the U.S. State Department Bureau of East Asian and Pacific Affairs, and then returned to Tokyo over the summer to work at the Japan Institute of International Affairs. He is currently a Presidential Management Fellow finalist looking for a permanent government position while contracting with the State Department.
After graduation, he hopes to work as a Political Affairs Officer in the U.S. Foreign Service.
"I chose MSFS because I wanted a world-class education that mixed academic rigor with real-world skills taught by current practitioners in international affairs. The D.C. location also provided many opportunities to work in the center of U.S. policy and build connections for my future. I want to enter the U.S. Foreign Service after graduation, and MSFS is the best international affairs program for my goals and aspirations.”
