Benedicta Solf
Benedicta was born and raised in Germany. After completing high school, she spent a year volunteering in Beirut, Lebanon. Her time there sparked her interest in working with refugees and learning more about forced migration and the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region.
She graduated in 2017 with a Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy and Economics from the University of Bayreuth. During her undergraduate studies, she completed various internships in the public and non-profit sectors, including the German Federal Ministry for Migration and Refugees and the German Marshall Fund (GMF). At GMF, she worked with the Europe-Migration Program and conducted research and analysis on a variety of issues, such as the EU-Turkey deal, the Marshall Plan for Africa, and the Global Compact for Migration.
In the Master of Science in Foreign Service (MSFS) program, she hopes to learn more about political developments in the MENA region and how international organizations and governments can resolve humanitarian and security issues. After graduating from Georgetown, Benedicta aims to work for the international development sector.
"I chose the MSFS program for its interdisciplinary curriculum, international student body, and exposure to a vast range of international relations practitioners. The program allows me to focus on my personal and professional interests while enabling me to gain the necessary knowledge and skills for a career within the international development sector.”
