Title: Heffernan To Host MSFS Leadership Clinic

MSFS welcomes Margaret Heffernan, bestselling author of Willful Blindness: Why We Ignore the Obvious at Our Peril to host a leadership clinic on Saturday, February 8. In this book, she argues that the biggest threats and dangers we face are the ones we don’t see-not because they’re secret or invisible, but because we’re willfully blind. This interactive clinic will explore questions Heffernan poses in her book, such as “what makes us prefer ignorance?” and “what stands in the way of our best thinking?” Students and alumni alike will learn to combat willful blindness and become better leaders in their field through a variety of exercises and scenarios at the clinic.

Heffernan is an author, entrepreneur, CEO and producer. She is Visiting Professor of Entrepreneurship at Simmons College in Boston and Executive in Residence at Babson College. She sits on the Council of the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art in the UK as well as the boards of several private companies. Heffernan blogs for the Huffington Post and BNET and writes for Fast Company, Real Business, MORE, and other magazines around the world. For more information about Heffernan, visit her website.

This Leadership Clinic was made possible by a generous gift from alumnus Philippe Sachs, MSFS ’02, with the goal of supporting programming in the area of student leadership. In lieu of a registration fee, we ask that participants consider making a donation to the Maria Pinto Carland Scholarship Fund. Every donation, no matter the size, makes a significant difference.

Registration is available for up to 25 alumni and 25 students. The event will be held in Copley Formal Lounge from 10 am – 3 pm on Saturday, February 8. Please RSVP here.
