Students

The MSFS is a highly selective program that accepts students on the basis of excellent academic records, international experience and lifetime achievements.  More than one third of MSFS students come from outside the United States; all have lived, studied or worked abroad.  The MSFS curriculum and extra-curricular activities are designed to ensure that students learn with and from one another.  Visit MSFS Profiles for short bios of current and past students.

Small size

Each incoming class is limited to approximately 90 students, so that each student gets the attention he or she deserves and the opportunity to establish lasting bonds with professors and peers.

Core courses

During their first semester, students take required core courses in international politics, history and economics in small classes composed exclusively of first-year MSFS students.

Small classes

Throughout the two-year program, most classes are limited in size to facilitate classroom discussion and enable students and professors to work together closely.

Internships

MSFS students intern in public, private, and non-profit institutions during their two years in MSFS.  These internships allow MSFS students to bring what they've learned in the classroom to the real world.

Careers

MSFS graduates are found all over the world in public, private, and non-profit sectors.  Over 95% of all MSFS graduates find permanent employment within six months of graduation

Alumni network

After a rigorous education, graduates of the program join a network of MSFS alumni who maintain a strong commitment to the program and to one another.

Student Activities

MSFS students lead, organize, and participate in various events and co-curricular activities. They also enjoy a healthy social life in Washington, DC sponsoring happy hours, the annual Holiday party, the International Student Night, and the Spring Ball, to name a few.

Students are also very active in student organizations and participate in special lectures, dinners, and volunteer opportunities.
