BSBA/MSFS

Basic information about the Bachelor of Science in Business Administration/Master of Science in Foreign Service joint degree program:

  • 5 years full-time study
  • Juniors in the School of Business who have maintained an honors academic average (3.5 or above) are eligible to apply to the MSFS program.
  • Students enter the MSFS program in their senior year of undergraduate studies.
  • Degree candidates must satisfactorily pass the MSFS language examination.
  • Degree candidates must pass a one-hour oral examination.

Sequence of Courses*/Course information:

First Year

18 hours of MSFS required curriculum courses, and 6 hours of MSFS electives

Second Year

3 hours of MSFS Workshops and 21 hours of electives.

Successful candidates will receive the BSBA and the MSFS degrees simultaneously upon completion of the fifth year of course work. Students must complete all the requirements of both programs. During the fourth year of study, students maintain their undergraduate status for the purposes of tuition, financial aid, and housing.

Admissions:

Interested candidates must consult with the coordinator of Undergraduate Programs, School of Business, before applying to the BSBA/MSFS program. All candidates will undergo an evaluative interview with the MSFS Director of Admissions or an Admissions Officer prior to the January 15th application deadline.

Admission to the BSBA/MSFS Program is extremely competitive and students must satisfy all published application procedures for the Graduate School and MSFS except the Graduate Record Examination (GRE). To be competitive, BSBA students should have a 3.7 cumulative GPA, substantial experience living abroad (in addition to any study-abroad experience), significant work and/or internship experience connected to international affairs, and advanced proficiency in a foreign language.
