MSFS/MAGIC

Basic information about the Master of Science in Foreign Service/Master of Arts in Global, International, & Comparative History joint degree program:

  • 2.5 years full-time study 
  • 60 credits; students pursue both degrees simultaneously 
  • Students must maintain a 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale. 
  • Degree candidates must satisfactorily pass the MSFS language examination. Click here for more information.

  • Degree candidates must pass all History department examinations.

Candidates bypass the MSFS required history course, Globalization of Intersocietal Relations and substitute the history core colloquium and combine their elective study in the two programs.

Admissions

Applicants must complete separate applications for each department but should indicate on all admissions forms that they are interested in the joint MSFS/MA History degree program. In addition to meeting the MSFS admission criteria, students pursuing the joint degree should present credentials indicating completion of at least 18 credit semester hours in history with a "B" or better average in history and a cumulative undergraduate average of "B" or better.
