MSFS/MBA

Basic information about the Master of Science in Foreign Service/Master of Business Administration joint degree:

  • 3 years full-time study 
  • 90 credits, including the entire first year of the MBA program and the complete MSFS program 
  • Students must maintain a 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale. 
  • Degree candidates must satisfactorily pass the MSFS language examination. 
  • Degree candidates must pass a one-hour oral examination. 

Sequence of Courses*/Course information:

First Year

Students complete the first year of the MBA Program and are required to take one MSFS elective course in the spring.

Students must complete the coursework required of traditional first-year MSFS students and take one MBA course in the spring.

Third Year

Students combine the required MSFS workshop with MSFS and MBA electives.

The Georgetown MBA includes a required international experience of one-week of field-based learning outside the U.S. and 12 weeks of directly related course work. Three first year integrative experiences and an 18-week international business course will weave international issues throughout the first year. A 12-week course inTechnology and Knowledge Managementwill connect technology issues to all functional areas.

Applicants to the MSFS/MBA Program must meet the admissions criteria for both degree programs. Applicants must submit the results of the Graduate Record Examination (GRE) and/or the Graduate Management Admissions Test (GMAT) to the MSFS Admissions Committee.

Applicants must submit applications to both admissions office. Students should indicate on all admissions forms that they are applying to the joint degree.
