Jorge Highland Participated in MSFS Alumni Lunch Conversation

On October 22, 2009, MSFS Alumnus Jorge Highland (MSFS '07), the Director of Strategy and Research for the Garmeen Foundation, participated in a lunch conversation with current MSFS students to discuss his areas of interest and expertise, and to offer them educational and career advice.

Jorge Highland joined Grameen Foundation in June of 2007 as a Technical Program Officer in the Partner Technology Group where he provided operational and strategic advisory services to Grameen Foundation Partners in Latin America and the Caribbean. During his time with Partner Technology he worked with partner institutions to improve their operations through strategic information management rooted in business process analysis and measurement. He holds a Master of Science in Foreign Service degree from Georgetown University where he studied Global Commerce and Finance and focused on microfinance and migrant remittances. Prior to his graduate studies, he was a process improvement consultant with PricewaterhouseCoopers for four years where he worked with Fortune 500 clients to maintain, enhance, and leverage their operations through information driven processes.

Current MSFS student, Elizabeth Chacko, a MSFS/MBA dual-degree student concentrating in International Development commented that Highland, "was open and happy to offer advice and discuss industry trends. The conversation went well and I would follow up with him in the future. His insights are particularly beneficial for those interested in microfinance but I think he can offer other perspectives as well."
