Robert Alter Discusses Foreign Service Experience in Iraq
Robert Alter, MSFS '07, spoke to a group of MSFS students on Nov. 28th about his first posting in the US Foreign Service in Baghdad. Rob was one of six new FSOs who volunteered to deploy to and was one of two chosen. He currently serves as an Economics Officer in the Green Zone, coordinating the work of several government departments, including Transportation and Agriculture. He described “a day in the life”, offered advice to those planning to take the Foreign Service Officer Test, and answered questions about his role within the Embassy, security issues, and career plans.
