Internship Coordinator: Laura Cressey
MSFS Internship Coordinator, Laura Cressey (MSFS '92), contacts corporations, government agencies and non-profit organizations and helps MSFS students find suitable placement in part-time academic and full-time summer internships. She manages an internship database with more than 1,500 listings and posts information on current opportunities on the MSFS Blackboard. She also organizes trips to New York and within Washington to introduce MSFS students to potential employers. On a regular basis she meets one-on-one with students to provide career information, counseling and advice.
After graduating from the MSFS in 1992, Ms. Cressey joined the State Department as a Presidential Management Fellow, working in the Bureau of Political Military Affairs and The American Embassy in Paris. After briefly serving as the Acting Director of Nonproliferation at the National Security Council, she became the Deputy Director of the Office of Chemical, Biological, and Missile Nonproliferation in State Department's Bureau of Nonproliferation, responsible for chemical and biological weapons nonproliferation policy. After nearly 10 years at State, she accepted a position as an Associate with Booz Allen Hamilton working on their Global Security Team until 2007.
